William Lee Jones, Sr.

William Lee Jones, Sr. was born on July 06, 1948 to Oscar and Rosie Jones in Oneida, Arkansas.

He confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Oneida, Arkansas under the leadership of reverend R.L. Russ.

William Lee Jones graduated from Barton Lexa High School in 1967, and he then went on and graduated from Mahoney Trade School in 1968.

After graduating from Mahoney Trade School, he was drafted into the Army for the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969.  After returning from the Vietnam War, he began working at Webb Packing Company in Helena, Arkansas.  He then realized he wanted to further his Army career, so he enlisted into the Arkansas Army National Guard where he received a job as a Supply Clerk Sergeant, kickstarting a twenty (20) year career in Logistics.

In 1993, William met Almedia and married on April 14, 2000.  William and Almedia Jones went on to have three (3) children:  Brittnee Jones, William Jones, Jr., and Brianna Jones.

In July 2000, William retired and spent his time attending church services, doing yard work, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and telling his army career stories.

William (SARGE) Lee Jones, Sr., 75 of Benton, Arkansas, passed on March 20, 2024.

William Lee Jones, Sr. was predeceased by his parents:  Oscar and Rosie Jones; five (5) brothers:  Nathaniel Jackson, Levi Jones, Matt Perkins, Oscar Jones, Jr., and Izear Jones; and two (2) sisters:  Caledonia Prescott and Bertha Jones.

William leaves to mourn his passing, but forever cherish his memories his wife:  Almedia Jones of Benton, Arkansas; his children:  Dr. Ruth Jones of Alabama; William Jones, Jr. of Oklahoma; LaTisha (Corey) James of Connecticut; Brandon Blake of Virginia; Brittnee Jones of Bryant, Arkansas; William Lee Jones, Jr. of Benton, Arkansas; Brianna (Aryion) Jordan of Alexander, Arkansas; Keyaire Jones of Little Rock, Arkansas; Yahiakeem Jones of Bentonville, Arkansas; and Matthew James Potter Jones of Benton, Arkansas; his grandchildren:  Jeffrey, Jordan, Jared, and Joi of Connecticut; Christian and Chayce of Bryant, Arkansas; Kasen of Texas; and Ryi’Anna of Alexander, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
