Vivian Dean Nunn was born on February 13, 1945, to Benny Jean and Bertha Mae Eady Nunn in Marvell, Arkansas.
She was converted and baptized at an early age at the Old Mt. Everett Baptist Church under Pastor T.C. Williams. Later in life, she united with the New Zion Baptist Church in Marvell, Arkansas. When Vivian relocated in the Central Arkansas area, she joined the Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Dr. James E. Mackey.
Vivian departed this life on Wednesday morning, May 25, 2022, in Maumelle, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her father: Benny J. Nunn; and two (2) brothers: Johnny Lee McDonald; and Marvin Nunn.
Vivian was a kind and dear-hearted young lady who loved good conversations and big laughs with family and friends. She had a genuine, Christian spirit, full of love.
She was a retired educator who graduated from M.M. Tate High School in 1962. She later continued her education at HBCU Mary Holmes Junior College in West Point, Mississippi from 1962 to 1964. During her stay there, she was voted as Queen-Miss Mary Holmes. Upon completion of her Associate’s Degree, she enrolled at AM&N in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and obtained her B.S.E. Degree in Education with a Major in Biology.
She later married Samuel Elvin Nelson and to this union one (1) son, Stephen Eric Nelson, was born.
Vivian taught school for the Holly Grove School District and later moved to California and taught there for several years until moving to Moss Point, Mississippi. Vivian later returned to the Postelle Community and worked as an Activity Director at the Counseling and Development Center under the leadership of Mr. Walter Darnell.
Vivian leaves to cherish her memory her mother: Bertha Mae Nunn; one (1) son: Stephen (Yolanda) Nelson of California; one (1) grandson: Orlandon (Hayley) Sweeney; two (2) brothers: Jerome (Gloria) Nunn; and Howard (Dauphine) Nunn; four (4) sisters: Melrose Davis; Eleen (James) Mackey; Berthena Nunn; and Glenda (Donald) Razzano; her sister-in-law: Katie Nunn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
