Our beloved Pearlie Lee (Boyd) Rose was born February 10, 1950 in the small community of Marvell, AR. On Sunday, October 22, 2023, she reunited with her parents, John Wesley & Essie Lee Boyd, alongside her sister Mamie Hayes (Roland-deceased), brothers John Wesley Boyd, Jr. (Dinella) and Freddie Lee Boyd (Carolyn) in heaven.
In her early years, she embraced her faith in Christ and became an active member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Church. Later, she also became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
On March 1, 1969, Pearlie married the love of her life, Sylvester Rose, Sr. (Bill). Over their 54-year union, they nurtured a family of 13 children, including 8 boys and 5 girls. She affectionately referred to them as Set 1 and Set 2 due to the five-year gap between each set. They are Sylvester Rose, Jr (Amy), Nesbit, MS; Jonathan Rose (Sherry), Celina, Texas; Charlotte Rose, Jonesboro AR; DeAngela Moore (Denichal Moore, Sr. - deceased), Poplar Grove, AR; Dr. Paula Rose-Greer (Rickey), Jonesboro, AR; Jeffrey Rose (Shoko), Misawa, Japan; Jason Rose, Dallas, Texas; James Rose (Asua), Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA; Justin Rose, Jonesboro, AR; Jeremy Rose, Willow Street, Pennsylvania; Jayvien Rose, Sr., Kaiserslautern, Germany; Terra Rose, Marion, AR; and Roslyn Rose, Memphis, TN. All of which were her favorite.
Pearlie frequently took pride in her children's achievements, whether it was a career advancement, college graduation, or achieving success in the military. Likewise, for her adoring 29 grandchildren who warmly greeted her as “granny” or “grandma,” knowing she would have their favorite snack fully stocked. Her great-grandchildren equally shared in this unshakeable bond of love.
Pearlie was an avid country girl who would fondly reminisce of riding her horse, Patsy. She was no stranger to the value of hard work, which was an important life skill she passed on to her children. Pearlie embraced a wide range of diverse roles, as a homemaker, factory employee, Head Start teacher, and caregiver, positively influencing the lives of countless individuals. Her charismatic personality left no room for uncertainty; you always knew where you stood with her.
Her favorite pastimes were cleaning, watching Law & Order, and tending to her flower beds and garden with a chilled Pepsi, in the refrigerator. Most notably, she found immense joy in shopping at Walmart, regardless of the location, as she believed each store had something unique to offer. In addition, she made regular visits to JCPenney and Lowe's.
Pearlie departed this earthly realm, a surprise to many, but not to God's divine plan. Her memories will forever echo in the hearts and souls of her family and friends. She was a best friend to her sister, Willie Anne Hargrove (Lonnie - deceased), Marvell, AR and a beloved brother Willie James Boyd (Juanita - deceased), Detroit, MI. Additionally, she was a source of love and support for her nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, friends, and the community, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
