Mary Lee Williams

June 16, 1944 ~ April 2, 2021 (age 76)

Mary Lee Marshall Williams, “May Lee”, was born on June 16, 1944 to Lonnie and Ardessa Marshall in Wabash, Arkansas.

She was a Certified Nursing Assistant for Area Agency on Aging for many years and a cook at Sonic and Harbor for many years.

Mary was a loving and caring person.  She took in two (2) elderly people who had no children of their own, and they stayed with her for many years.  She was a wonderful pillar in the community.  She loved cooking wonderful dishes for the church or delicious cakes and pies.  Mary loved planting her garden each year and cooking fresh greens and tomatoes for our family.  She loved to sew.  When we grew up, she made a lot of our clothes.  In addition, she also loved to upholster furniture.  She also loved planting beautiful flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary’s christian journey began at an early age at St. Mary #2 Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend P.C. Clayburn.  She was a faithful member of New Haven Missionary Baptist Church in West Helena, Arkansas, where she remained until her health began to fail.

Mary met the love of her life, Lawrence Leon Williams, and they were married on September 12, 1965.  To their union, six (6) children were born:  Jacqueline Dillon, Lawrence Williams, Jr., Jennifer Shepard. Gregory Williams, Shree Williams Gaskin, and Shrall Williams.

On April 02, 2021, Mary was called home to be with the Lord.  She will truly be missed, but she is not gone.  Her memories will forever be within our hearts.  No one can take those from us.

She was preceded in death by her husband:  Lawrence Williams, Sr.; one (1) daughter:  Jacqueline Dillon; her parents:  Lonnie and Ardessa Marshall; her siblings:  Cardia M. Collins, Idella Marshall, Lonnie Marshall, Jr., Ben L. Marshall, Velma Swinney, Augusta Edmond, and Clee Marshall.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory five (5) children:  Lawrence (Vivian) Williams, Jr. of Jacksonville, Arkansas; Jennifer (Alfred) Shepard of Rockwall, Texas; Gregory (Tamera) Williams of West Helena, Arkansas; Shree (Jeffrey) Gaskin of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; and Shrall (Fabrace) Dongmo of Bremington, Washington; one (1) brother:  John (Gloria) Marshall of Lexa, Arkansas; twelve (12) grandchildren:  Brandon Shepard, Alexis Williams, Lawrence Williams III, Demorris Reed, Jordan Shepard, Elan Gaskin, Caylee Dongmo, Natalia Dongmo, Ian Gaskin, Ethan Gaskin, Kinley Williams, and Aden Gaskin; four (4) great-grandchildren:  Jada Shepard, Inaya Shepard, Cameron Shepard, and Aven Shepard; one (1) brother-in-law:  Willie James Edmond; one (1) aunt:  Clenix Cheatum; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
