Mrs. Mamie Lee Johnson was born on November 08, 1930 in Helena, Arkansas to the late Jodie and Fannie Jenkins.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Will Johnson. To this union, three (3) sons were born: Willie Weaks, Jodie Johnson, and Emmett Johnson.
Mamie was preceded in death by her parents: Jodie and Fannie Jenkins; her husband: Will Johnson; two (2) sons: Willie Weaks and Emmett Johnson; two (2) brothers: L.C. Jenkins and John Jenkins; and her longtime companion: Leroy Johnson.
She accepted Christ at a very early age. She was a faithful, dedicated member of the Mount Tabor Church in Helena, Arkansas until her failing health.
Mamie was a loving mother, not only to her sons, but to the neighborhood children as well. She played a large part in raising her granddaughters and great-grandsons. She was a faithful employee of the Etoch family for many years. She loved reading, cooking, shopping, talking on the telephone, and going to the beauty salon. She also enjoyed going on long rides on Sunday afternoons where she would exclaim, “Ride me until I sweat!” Mamie will be remembered for her strong work ethic, love of family, and incredible cooking skills.
Mamie leaves to cherish her memories her amazing son: Jodie Johnson (Liz Butler) of Memphis, Tennessee; three (3) sisters: Meaney Franklin of Kenosha, Wisconsin; Mary Alice Harris of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and Courtney Hale of Kokomo, Indiana; one (1) stepdaughter: Loraine Carter of Little Rock, Arkansas; three (3) granddaughters: Bridney Taylor of Helena, Arkansas; Emily Johnson of South Carolina; and Tamara Johnson; two (2) great-grandsons: Jordan Taylor of Helena, Arkansas; and Kaiden Taylor of Helena, Arkansas; a special niece: Shondrell Jenkins; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
