Leroy Palmer was born on November 09, 1963 to John and Lizzie Palmer in Elaine, Arkansas. He departed this life on Monday, August 22, 2022 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Leroy’s parents moved to Helena, Arkansas where he attended the Helena and West Helena Public Schools. He graduated from Central High School in 1983.
Leroy confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at Bethel C.O.G.I.C.
Leroy was formerly married to Carolyn Palmer and to this union, two (2) children were born, April and Roshonda Palmer.
He moved to Little Rock, Arkansas seeking better job opportunities. He soon began working for Southern Cotton Oil and worked there many years until the plant closed. After that, Leroy was hired on with Union Pacific Railroad. He worked there for ten (10) years. After suffering a job related injury, he retired early.
Leroy loved cooking. He could go into the kitchen, mix a little of this and a little of that, creating delicious meals. His favorite dishes were spaghetti and mustard greens. Leroy loved spending time with his children, creating Palmer tales just to make his kids laugh. Although funny, he made them sound believable. April believed that a carrot was a retarded sweet potato until she was twelve (12).
During the holidays, you could find him in the kitchen sampling the food and sitting at the table playing board games and cards with his children. Leroy loved eating, fishing, hanging out with his friends, and spending money.
Preceding Leroy in death were his parents: John and Lizzie Palmer; three (3) brothers: Mozell King; J.B. Palmer; and John Palmer; three (3) sisters: Bertha Langston; Brenda Palmer McClurge; and Betty Palmer Green.
Left to cherish his memories are Carolyn Palmer of Maumelle, Arkansas; seven (7) children: Jason Carter (Katrina) of Little Rock, Arkansas; April Palmer of Jacksonville, Arkansas; Roshonda Palmer of Irving Texas; Anyk DeSquare’ Palmer of Dallas, Texas; Leroy Palmer Jr.; Teiyana Collier; and KyMarion Collier; all of West Helena, Arkansas; eight (8) grandchildren: Honesty Brooks; Jalah Carter; Khali Palmer; Kenedie Palmer; Keathan Palmer; Kourtney Palmer; Rosamund Tete-Siaw; and Romund Tete-Siaw; four (4) sisters: Rose Sanders; and Bobbie King; both of North Little Rock, Arkansas; Lillie Woodbridge; and Teressa Hawkins; both of Helena, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memories two (2) special friends: Fabian Lewis (aka) “Buck”; who was his childhood friend throughout adulthood and who Leroy loved dearly and called “brother”; and Kimberly Speed.
