Today, our hearts are broken as we all mourn the loss of our beloved, Elnora Banks. Her bright light and big heart has gone to be with the Lord, but we will remember her warmth and love. Our dear Elnora passed away on January 21, 2023 after a valiant battle with a long illness, and we feel at peace knowing that she can rest now.
Elnora, a beloved mother of one daughter, was born November 20, 1941 to the late Charley Petterson, Sr. and Essie Mae Martin . Along with her loving parents, she was also blessed to have been touched with generous hands in raising from the late Mother Mae Green, Mr. and Mrs. Coleman, and Mrs. Sadeere Hollis in Ratio, Arkansas. They all helped her prepare for the future and obtain a formal education.
Elnora confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend P. L. Perkins at Gumwood Missionary Baptist Church in Ratio, Arkansas.
Elnora was preceded in death by her daughter: Jean; her parents; her brothers: George Baker, Reverend James Baker, and Charley Petterson, Jr.; and her sister: Geraldine Wallace-Williams.
Left to cherish her memories are her sisters: Annie Lee Hargraves of Monticello, Arkansas; and Mae Francis Wilson of Helena, Arkansas; her special nephew, nieces, and caregivers: Breon Ross, Sr. (Towanna) of Helena, Arkansas; and Nyesha Rogers of Jacksonville, Arkansas; and her sister-in-law: Shirlyn Baker of Helena, Arkansas. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be truly missed by many who loved her.
