Douglas Edward Ivory “Flip” was born on February 18, 1964 in Trenton, Arkansas to Lamar Stanton, John L. Simpkins and Betty Jean Ivory Stanton.
He graduated from Marvell High School, Class of 1983. He also served in the United States Army. Douglas later attended the University of Memphis, majoring in Law.
Six (6) weeks after meeting, Douglas married Rosie Murrel. To this union, five (5) children were born.
Douglas loved to cook. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading, and listening to music. Most of all, his love for God was unwavering. Family was one precious thing in his heart. Singing and writing music and short stories was one of his passions, along with the great outdoors, especially gardening.
On Thursday, August 25, 2022, Douglas passed from this earthly life to eternity at Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one (1) sister: Michelle Ivory; two (2) brothers: Billy Paul Ivory; and Lamar Stanton; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Douglas leaves to cherish his memories his wife of thirty-four (34) years: Rosie Ivory of Memphis, Tennessee; five (5) children: Douglas Ivory, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee; Latoya Ivory of Memphis, Tennessee; Shannon Ivory of Memphis, Tennessee; Pamela Ivory of Memphis, Tennessee; and Roderick Thomas of Maumelle, Arkansas; five (5) grandchildren: Roderick Thomas, Jr.; Raylon Thomas; Liam Ivory; Emily Ivory; and Darrion Clayton; seven (7) sisters: Lellia Stanton of Little Rock, Arkansas; Marchell Ivory of Little Rock, Arkansas; Regina Stanton of Little Rock, Arkansas; Jewel Stanton of Little Rock, Arkansas; Tiffany Stanton of Little Rock, Arkansas; Darneese Simpkins of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Daneen Simpkins of Flint, Michigan; five (5) brothers: Kareem Stanton of Little Rock, Arkansas; Julius Stanton of Little Rock, Arkansas; Dexter (Meghan) Stanton of Sherwood, Arkansas; Daryl Simpkins of Columbus, Ohio; and Danny Simpkins of New Orleans, Louisiana; four (4) brothers-in-law; five (5) sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
