Brother David “Sonny” Louis James was born on February 01, 1952 in Marvell, Arkansas to Terry Booker James and Earlie Virginia James. He passed away on December 21, 2023 alongside his wife, Georgia James, of fifty (50) years in the home of his born, Earston James. David was seventy-one (71) years of age.
David graduated from Marvell High School. He attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and in his words, one of his greatest accomplishments was his initiation into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. during his time at this historically black college. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Studies.
After graduating from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, David pursued a career with the military in the United States Army where he served as a Medical Officer. He later worked many years as a Welder at D&L Inc. in Marianna, Arkansas. He later worked at Lennox Industries in Stuttgart, Arkansas for several years as a Maintenance Worker until he reached retirement.
David was an active member and Deacon at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Palmer, Arkansas where the gathering of people of God was a priority to him. He was also a Mason.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing with his close friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents: Terry Booker James and Earlie Virginia James, who were life partners for over sixty (60) years; and two (2) special cousins: Arutha Young; and Corine Hoskins.
David is survived by his loving, high school sweetheart: Georgia James; five (5) children: Earston (Ryan) James; Crystal James-Tisdale; David James, Jr.; Christopher (Precilla) James; and Randall James; a special grandson who he raised: Cameron (Elisa) James; fourteen (14) grandchildren; five (5) great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends. While being an only child, he had several special cousins raised as sisters to him: Barbara Ann Hurd; Bertha Rene Young; and Amanda Lee Boose.
