April Lena Casey was born on April 23, 1981 in Helena, Arkansas to the late Thomas Gerald Wooten and Katherine Smith Wooten.
First and foremost, April was a mother and a wife. They were everything she lived for. She wanted only the best she could provide for them and was known to sacrifice her own wants and needs to accomplish that. April’s love of children also extended out to taking guardianship of other children. She loved them like her own when they had no place to call home. She gave them that.
April was a Caregiver in profession and at heart. She provided home care to so many families with chronic illnesses and disabilities that needed her loving care. Her patients and families often said they adored her and could not imagine what they would have done without her care.
April was an avid supporter of the movement to ending racism, attending many functions in the surrounding areas of her community including extended distances such as Little Rock, Arkansas and Memphis, Tennessee.
She was also a friend and a confidant to so many and a supporter of her community. She assisted frequently with delivering boxes of food from the West Helena Foodbank to families in the community all through the year. April also assisted with gathering Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets from West Helena churches to families, even when her family may have been in need as well. The community came first.
April entered into eternal rest on Christmas Day 2023 at Helena Regional Medical Center in Helena, Arkansas at the age of forty-two (42).
She was preceded in death by her father: Thomas Gerald Wooten; her brother: Tommy Wooten; her maternal grandparents: Ernest William Smith and Lena Tempie Smith; and her paternal grandparents: William B. Wooten and Hazel Wooten.
April leaves behind her mother: Katherine Wooten; five (5) children: Ricky Sanders; Lakeshia Sanders; Rontiavious Blue; Mariah Blue; and Tavon Casey; and her best friend of thirteen (13) years: Debbie White; and a host of other relatives and friends.
